Nominations for the 2021 Grassroots Cricket Awards are now open. The Grassroots Cricket Awards are aimed at recognising and rewarding those volunteers who give their time to the game of cricket. We welcome nominations for volunteers from the traditional cricketing environments (clubs, leagues, boards) but in addition to this, we would like to recognise volunteers from emerging environments such as Higher and Further Education, Community Programmes, Workplaces and Recreational Park Leagues.
Attached to this communication is the '2021 Nomination Form' and the '2021 Judging Criteria' which explains the criteria for each category.
The 8 GCA's nomination categories for 2021 are as follows:
- Connecting Communities
- Inspired to Play
- Rising Star Award
- Game Changer
- Unsung Hero
- Growing the Game
- Lifetime Achiever
- Cricket Innovators
All winners/nominees holding the following positions need to hold an ECB DBS certificate: Welfare Officer, Volunteer Co-ordinator, Coach, Umpire, Scorer, Colts/Junior Managers, Open Age Team Captains, Junior Supervisors, First Aiders.
There are 8 categories that you can nominate your volunteers in. Once nominations have been received then the Dorset Cricket Board will shortlist 3 people in each category. The shortlisted people will receive an invite to the Dorset Grassroots Cricket Awards event at the end of the season. If we're able to invite more nominee's than the 3 in each category then we will open it up to others that were not shortlisted. The only category that differs from this is the Connecting Communities category where the winning club will receive 5 invites to the Dorset event. Details of the event will be communicated out to the nominees nearer the time. Any junior category shortlisted people will also receive an invite for a parent to attend with them.
The Dorset Cricket Board will select a winner in each category and these need to be communicated to the ECB by the 16th of August so we have set a deadline of the 2nd of August for nominations to be returned. The Dorset winner in each category will receive an invite to the ECB National Grassroots Cricket Awards Event at the end of the season.
Both of these will be massive amounts of fun and are excellent opportunities to reward volunteers within your club. Please do not miss this opportunity to reward those people within your club and take a little amount of time to put them forward. All nominees are recognised and thanked for their contribution to cricket in Dorset.
Nominations should be returned to Greg Parsons at greg.parsons@dorsetcricketboard.co.uk or via post to Cricket Development Office, Wimborne CC, The Leaze, King Street, Wimborne,Dorset, BH21 1DY by the close of play on the 2nd of August 2021.
