DORSET SCHOOLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION

CONSTITUTION

 

 

1. NAME

The Association shall be called the ‘Dorset Schools Cricket Association.’

 

2. AIMS

The aims of the Association shall be:-

(a) to encourage the mental, moral and physical development of pupils, both male and female, in Dorset;

(b) to be instrumental in raising the standard of cricket in Dorset schools;

(c) to work for the provision of proper cricketing facilities in Dorset schools;

(d) to organise, or encourage the organisation of, all inter school competitions, which will culminate in appropriately arranged County finals;

(e) to maintain close liaison with the English Schools Cricket Association through affiliation;

(f) to maintain close liaison with the Dorset Cricket Board, on which DSCA has a seat;

(g) to work closely, where appropriate, with the English and Welsh Cricket Board;

(g) to uphold the Marylebone Cricket Club’s Spirit of Cricket philosophy at all times.

 

3. MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Association is open to all schools in the County of Dorset. That includes those in the unitary authorities of Bournemouth and Poole.

 

Membership shall entitle the school to:

(a)  receive copies of all circulars and general letters sent out by the Association;

(b)  enter competitions from Year 5 to Year 10 organised by DSCA;

(c)   send representatives to the Annual General Meeting of DSCA.

 

4. OFFICERS

The Officers of the Association shall consist of:

  • President
  • Chairman
  • Vice-Chairman
  • Secretary – Secondary
  • Secretary – Primary
  • Treasurer
  • Representative on the Dorset Cricket Board
  • Representative on the Dorset Cricket Board Youth Forum

 

The Officers are entitled to make ad hoc appointments to help eg with the website.

The Officers are entitled to propose Life Members of the Association.

 

5. RULES

The Association shall be governed by the Rules of the English Schools Cricket Association.

 

6. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

This shall be held in the Autumn Term. The Chairman shall give not less than ten days Notice of the place and time of the meeting as well as provide an Agenda with that Notice. Any number of delegates may attend, but voting shall be restricted to one per school.

 

7. EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

The Chairman shall have power to convene a special meeting of the Association on receiving a request stating the object of such a meeting. The request must come from at least eight affiliated schools.

 

8. AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION

Amendments to the Constitution may be made only at the Annual General Meeting or at  an Extraordinary General Meeting. Notice of the proposed amendments must be submitted to the Chairman, with names of proposer and seconder, at least fourteen days before the General Meeting.

Any Amendment, if carried, shall be added at the foot of this Constitution and incorporated at the time of any revision, as determined by the Annual General Meeting.

 

9. DISSOLUTION

The affairs of the Association may be terminated only at the Annual general Meeting or an Extraordinary General Meeting, and then only by a two-thirds majority of those present. In such a case, the funds of the Association shall be disposed of according to the vote of a simple majority of those present.

Amendment to the Amendment of 2008, passed at the AGM of 2011:-

'That all schools participating in Secondary Competitions run by the Association should pay a school entry of £15.'
