RULES
1/. Players must be under the relevant age as at midnight on the 31st August 2011.
2/. Evidence of date of birth of any individual player must be provided to the East & South Dorset Cricket Association Committee, if requested.
3/. (a) The following matches will be 8-a-side pairs cricket:-
(1) U11s
(2) U13s
(b) The following matches will be 9-a-side:-
(1) U15s
NOTE: - Teams will be allowed to play 1 more player than the permitted number, provided that only the correct number of players bat and are on the field at any one time. However, all players are allowed to bowl.
4/. No player may play for more than 1 club in a season, within an age group.
5/. It shall not be permissible for a team to retain points won by including an ineligible player. At the discretion of the East & South Dorset Cricket Association Coimmittee, either points may be awarded to the opposing team or the match replayed.
6/. All complaints/protests. relating to the rules of the Competition, must be in writing to the Secretary, within seven days of the occurrence.
7/. Matches must be played in the week allocated, unless both teams agree to play on an earlier date than the one scheduled. The home team must offer the away team 2 dates, in the relevant week, one of which should be accepted.
Matches cancelled due to bad weather cannot be rearranged, other than as a friendly.
IMPORTANT GENERAL RULE
No Balls:-
(a) In pairs cricket, 2 bounces, before the popping crease, are allowed. In all other cricket, only 1 bounce is allowed.
(b) Any delivery passing the batsman, above waist height, on the full, should be called a no ball.
(c) Any delivery passing the batsman, above shoulder height, after bouncing, should be called a no ball.
8/. 10 points will be awarded for a win, 5 points for a tie (scores equal).
9/. Batting Bonus points will be awarded as follows:-
(a) U11s & U13s - 1 point for every 10 runs above 200, up to a maximum of 10 points.
(b) U15s - 1 point for scoring 40 runs, and 1 extra point thereafterf for each additional 20 runs, up to a maximum of 5 points. For the side batting second, and winning, points will be awarded for wickets in hand at the close, as follows:- 1 point for 2 wickets in hand, 2 points for 4 wickets in hand, 3 points for 6 wickets in hand, 4 points for 7 wickets in hand, 5 points for 8 wickets in hand. The maximum number of batting points a side can obtain is 5.
10/. Bowling Bonus points will be awarded as follows:-
(a) U11s & U13s - none
(b) U15s - 1 point for taking 1 wicket, 2 points for taking 3 wickets, 3 points for taking 5 wickets, 4 points for taking 7 wickets, 5 points for taking 8, or all available, wickets. If a side playing short has batsmen retired, bowling points will be awarded taking into account the number of wickets taken and the number of players missing.
11/. If a team fails to honour a fixture, it will receive no points and 20 points will be awarded to the other side, with the match counting as a fixture played for both teams.
12/. The final League positions will be decided by average points per match.
13/. Format of games:-
(a) U11s & U13s -
1. Each team to have one innings of 16 six-ball overs.
2. The batting side shall be divided into pairs, each pair batting for 4 overs and changing at the end of the 4th, 8th and 12th overs.
3. No bowler my bowl more than 3 overs.
4. Each team shall start with a score of 200 runs and accumulate runs as in normal cricket. Every time a wicket falls, 6 runs shall be deducted from the total.
5. If a team is one player short, the lowest scoring batsman from the first pair, taking into account wickets lost, will bat again in the 4th pair. If a team is 2 players short, they must play the entire game with only 6 players, batting for 12 overs with 3 pairs.
6. When a batsman is out, she shall not face the next deliver, swapping ends if necessary.
7. A wide delivery will incur a penalty of 2 runs, plus any runs scored, but no extra ball except in the last over when 2 runs and an extra ball will both apply.
8. A no ball will incur a penalty of 2 runs, plus any runs scored, but no extra ball, except in the last over when 2 runs and an extra ball will both apply.
(b) U15s
1. Each innings will consist of 20, six-ball overs.
2. The umpires will decide on any adjustment of overs in the event of inclement weather or bad light. In a match subject to a late start or interruption in the first innings, each innings will be reduced by one over for each full 6 minutes lost. In a case of interruption in the second innings, that innings is reduced by one over for each full 3 minutes lost. The minimum number of overs for a result to be obtained must be 10 overs for each side, unless a team is all out, or the side batting second exceed their target score. In the case of a side batting second and the innings being curtailed after 10, or more, overs, the match is decided on average number of runs scored per over.
3. No bowler may bowl more than 4 overs in a match. If either innings is reduced to 15 overs or less, then each bowler is only allowed a maximum of 3 overs.
4. Each batsman will retire when their score reaches 30 and shall not return to the wicket, even if the remainder of the side is out. If the last 2 batsmen are at the wicket, and one batsman reaches 30, she should then act as a runner, until the other batsman is either out, reaches 30, or the team wins. If either batsmen is run out, the innings will end.
14/. The Home team must supply a match ball:-
(a) U11s - Softball (incrediball)
(b) U13s - Hardball, if both teams agree. If one team would prefer to play with a softball, then this should be used.
(c) U15s - Hardball
15/. Each team must provide an umpire and a scorer.
16/. Helmets are mandatory for all batsmen, and for all wicketkeepers, if Hardball cricket is played.
17/. Pitch lengths:-
(a) U11s - 18 yards
(b) U13s - 20 yards
(c) U15s - 21 yards
18/. Fielding Restrictions:-
(a) U11s & U13s: No player is allowed to field within 11 yards of the bat, except behind the wicket on the offside.
(b) U15s: No player is allowed to field within 8 yards of the bat, except behind the wicket on the offside.
